Are you looking for a home business idea but don’t want to get your fingers burnt? Assuming that you have yet to try the normal starters like envelope stuffing, telephone answering services etc and that you have not sent money to find out about how you can make millions then you are at the right place.

A typical home business idea on the net includes many of these types of scam’s, I personally was bitten for over 3000 of scam’s when I first started looking around 6 years ago. I did send off money for the envelope stuffing and guess what I got back the same old thing as you do now. Stuff these envelopes with the same advert I responded to and send them back to us, we will pay you 15 for every 100 you send back. So I did exactly what I was asked and stuff 1000 envelopes waited for my 150, and waited and waited; I eventually got a letter back stating that I had not put the label on in the right place on all the letters and got a cheque for 20 for the time it took me to stuff the envelopes. I bet they made a packet from my hard labour. You’ll be surprised to know that I did not fill any more envelopes.

So what did I do? Well I started a website business; selling mobile phone accessories; covers, headsets etc etc. I used eBay to get my customers initially and then gave them information about my website with the delivery. Importing the accessories for around 80p each and selling them in packs of 5 for 15 to 20 each. After only six months I was sending between 20 and 50 packages a day and enjoyed a very good income.

Making money online with a home business idea is simple, but you need to think outside the box a little; use the facilities available to you that are cost effective. eBay sales may cost you a little bit of money each time but you get a customer and their repeat business if you look after them well enough.

If you look at the negatives(these are generally excuses) all the time then you will probably fail. Get a plan and stick to it. If you buy an online business some of the products will be expensive some won’t not one supplier can give you the best price on everything; find 20-30 products that you compete with and promote these to the hilt, this will bring you customers and with customers comes repeat business and with repeat business comes profit.

Consider this, most of us have seen the adverts on TV from Boots who offer 3 for 2 on selected items, do you really think they make massive profits on these items? Well no! Can you please offer any advice on my business idea? Do you forsee any problems please?

I have this idea for a small business. I have done some research, and found that there may be a demand for this product. I want to create a small electronic device, that people can use to experiment with high frequency sound.

I am planning to just sell a small transducer (to create the sound) and a photo copy of a plan for an amplifier (plus circuit diagram) which people could take to any electronics technician, like and electrician and have built.

Once I pay to have the transducer designed, it should be able to be built for under $20us pc in asia. The complete package that I sell (just transducer and photo coppies) should be no larger than a packet of cigarettes, and weigh less than 200g. I should be able to ship it cheaply through the standard mail to just about anywhere in the world. I am hoping to sell this product for under $100us.
There are some possible legal issues with the final product having the possibility of being abused. It could be used to harass people and possibly cause accidents, so I am going to go to a consumer goods solicitor to have a short contract drawn up to supply with the shipped item. Also, the device may have enough power to deafen someone if aimed at their face so I am going to recommend hearing protection. Additionally the device may have enough power to paralyse someone if used in a certain way. Also, the device could inadvertently electrocute the person using it, so I am going to have it designed to run on a 12volt input, have some insulation added to the outside of the transducer, and try to get the engineer to reduce the current whilst maintaining voltage, in an effort to salvage as bigger percentage of the power as possible, and hopefully reduce the power to a non lethal level. Also, I am going to have a clause written into the contract to cover this.
I am hoping to market my product directly on ebay and possibly open a yahoo store. Also, I would like to wholesale it to a number of parties who may be interested in distributing it.

This is just an idea at the moment and may take a long time to develop. In the interim, I am planning to experiment with the smallest 15kHz transducer I can find, and hopefully I can get some firmer ideas about frequency and power.

Can you guys please offer any ideas or suggestions about my business idea? Do you forsee any problems please?
I think the main issue is not so much the danger of this product itself, as insulation can be used, and reduced power specifications can be determined for the transducer. The main issue seems to be with the danger of high frequency sound between 15kHz and 20kHz and the high level of sensitivity humans seem to have to it. As far as I can see there are no reputable published research articles on this which I can find on the web. I find this fact very surprising when one considers all the implications. Some possiblilities are that high frequency sound could be used as a harassment method (can go through wall of a house), to cause an accident (like a car accident), or in some cases even temporarily paralyse someone. The noise pollution could keep people awake for extended periods of time, it could prevent people from being able to study, and generally prevent a landlord or person renting a property from having "the right to enjoyment of the land" the main founding real estate principle.
I think it would be the responsiblity of someone selling this device to include some information about the dangers of high frequency sound between 15kHz and 20kHz. I will have to speak to a consumer goods solicitor about having a short contract of warning about the dangers.
I think I will also have to speak with the govt. dept. which manages business and product safety in my state. Also, even if it is legal for me to sell in my state, I may have to check with a solicitor how I can sell it overseas on the web.

Most, make it seem like it’s a cinch to easily find scores of prospects on the Internet and simply herd them to your website by the thousands like stampeding cattle. Well, either those writers have been very lucky, or they’ve never really made any money online at all. Most likely, they’ve written their article for the sole purpose of pointing you to an online business opportunity for which “they” will earn an commission if you buy.

Actually, I was reading just such an article a few days ago, it read “Affiliate marketing is truly a win-win situation. Just pick a product and start promoting it. If it doesn’t sell, then simply switch to another one. Affiliate marketing is one of the simplest and most effective business opportunities on the web today.” In the most simplistic terms, these statements are true. But I think we’ve got the blind leading the blind here.

If you actually want to make money with an Internet home business, I can almost guarantee, that kind of superficial advice and simplistic thinking will set you up for failure. In my opinion, that writer’s advice was just about the worse advice imaginable. I say that because at the end of the day, an Internet home business is still, “a business”.

Set Realistic Expectations

In order to be successful, you’ll need to do your homework, select your products carefully, set up your blog correctly, put together an effective capture page, come up with compelling free offers and subscriber incentives to build your opt-in list, & set up your autoresponders & follow-up letters so you can keep in touch with those prospects you worked so hard to get to your site.

You’ll also need to plan your marketing campaign strategically,prepare several informative and keyword-rich articles, register with the right social networking sites and blog directories, set up your rss feeds, develop your power-linking skills, track your statistics, and overcome a very steep learning curve.

And let me caution you about something, if you expect to start a successful Internet home business without investing in the tools and resources your business needs… you’re in for a huge disappointment. Whether you’re starting an Internet home business, a brick & mortar business, a franchise, or even a lemonade-stand– you’re going to have to spend some money.

But don’t get me wrong, starting a successful Internet home business shouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg. But be prepared to invest a few hundred dollars in order to set-up, and market your affiliate business in a way that will quickly begin generating a steady, reliable income. And as with any business, in the beginning it’s going to take time and effort to build momentum and begin seeing steady traffic and sales.
