I was new to affiliate marketing myself, but the company I am with basically trains me on how it is professionally done. What you really need to do is get educated. I could recommend a few sources but you would probably think it is spam.

Firstly I would sign up for an adwords account. It seems to have the best results. If you go to my profile and follow adsense you will see the sign up button down the bottom of the page. Its free and goes straight to Google. When you get your account research your keywords and formulate your listing. It easy to do as you are walked through the process.

Hi Joe,

first don't send traffic directly to your affliate link try to send them first to your optin site, capture their name and email and then redirect them to the affiliate site.

You could focus your niche on things people really want, not what they need because not many people buy what they need they buy what they desire!
You could go to ebay and check the ebay pulse section and find out what people are searching for and buying the most,and then drill down into that niche so that you are not competing in a general niche where thousands of other people are promoting their stuff.
The Lycos top 50 is also another good source to find out what is being searched for the most.
When you find a hot niche you will need to milk it for all it's worth! which means setting up a website with articles on the niche you have chosen,plus the affiliate products you want to promote on there as well.you could also set up an autoresponder so that you can catch peoples email address so that you can carry on selling to them even when they have left your site.
You will also need to write some unique articles based on highly searched for keywords that have low competion anything under 50,000 competing pages should be fine,submit them to ezine articles and include your link to your website in your authors resource box,try to write at least one article per day.
if you do not want to pay for a website then you can easily set up a free blog with either blogger or wordpress.
remenber to update it daily.
another way to get traffic to your site or blog is to set up a squidoo page on a specific subject in your niche and link it back to your site or blog.
There is a lot more than this to it but if you take it step by step and continue to build around your niche then over time you will start to see the money coming in.

ok you want tips i got tips lol ok so always this is a really important tip always cloak your affiliate link go buy a domain name from godaddy.com they have a special on domains today for $9.99 then forward your domain to your affiliate link then no more ugly whatever.whatever.com or http://www.website.com/affid1246 you have a domain now advertising sign up to forums that are related to whatever you are selling then help out people and in your signature put your domain name those sites that show your ads and you get credits for clicking on ads are not the best
well yes you get alot of hits but no one buys anything also sign up to directmathces.com and then get alot of friends then send them messages about your product thats all i can really think of right now i will add more details when i think of some

Larger scale distribution would probably mandate big box retailers like best Buy and Circuit City. Look at the size of your demographic, and the budget you have, and you will be able to decide.
